Should you repair or replace your phone?

Questions that help you decide

Is there one fault or several?

A cracked screen on an otherwise usable phone is a different decision from a phone with charging, battery and liquid damage problems.

What does each option cost?

Ask for the complete repair quote, then compare it with a replacement’s price, condition, storage and included warranty.

Can you keep using the device?

Consider battery condition, performance, manufacturer support and the apps you need. A repair does not extend the manufacturer’s software support.

Consider your data first

Back up your phone before a repair whenever you can. Screen or battery work may leave your data in place, but data preservation cannot be guaranteed, particularly for liquid damage or faults involving the main board.

If important data is on a device that will not start, ask about the risks and recovery options before approving work. A replacement phone will not automatically recover data that was never backed up.

Compare the warranty and part

Ask which replacement part will be used for your exact model, how it may affect device features, and what warranty applies before authorizing the work. Parts availability and options vary by repair.

For a used replacement, confirm its battery condition, carrier lock status and the warranty written at purchase. Apple’s pre-owned iPhone guidance includes checks that help you assess an iPhone.

Ask for both options

Request a repair quote for the exact fault and ask about currently available replacement phones. You can compare the two before authorizing work.
